Afterschool
The Council is working in collaboration with the Department of Public Instruction and the University of Wisconsin Extension to provide leadership in the development of the Wisconsin Afterschool Network.

Brain Project
Through public awareness and training The Brain Project works to ensure that those who work with and on behalf of children and adolescents better understand the relationship between brain biology and the impacts of life experiences on the developing brain.

Child Safety
All kids deserve a safe and nurturing upbringing. Child safety encompasses physical safety, but also safety in the home and in the neighborhood. The WCCF has been involved in a variety of measures in an effort to make sure that all children have the opportunity to thrive in a safe environment.

Early Education
Research by leading neuroscientists has led to an expanded understanding of how the human brain develops throughout childhood and adolescence. Through public awareness and training The Brain Project works to ensure that those who work with and on behalf of children and adolescents better understand the relationship between brain biology and the impacts of life experiences on the developing brain.

Health Care
Health care is a critically important service for all children and families in Wisconsin, and a vital part of our work at WCCF.

Justice for Wisconsin Youth
All kids deserve fair treatment in court. WCCF seeks to ensure that kids are treated through the juvenile court so their developmental needs can be better accounted for throughout the court and rehabilitative process.

Tax Issues
Tax policy is a significant part of WCCF’s efforts to help low and moderate income families in Wisconsin. Taxes affect families directly and also provide most of the funding for vital government services, such as education, health care, transportation, child welfare and other safety net programs.

Wisconsin Budget Project
The Wisconsin Budget Project is a WCCF initiative that is engaged in analysis and education on state budget and tax issues, particularly those relating to low and moderate income families.

WisKids Count
Wiskids Count tracks, analyzes and communicates information about the health and well-being of children and families in Wisconsin. WisKids Count releases periodic issue based reports and bi-annual data books which provide county-by-county data on the condition of children and policy recommendations for action on behalf of children.

Work & Economic Support
Kids thrive when their parents have access to jobs, training, and income supports that lead to family economic security. Through policy analysis and research, as well as aggressive advocacy, the Council seeks ways to bridge this skills gap in a manner that serves both the changing needs of employers and the continued struggle of many of Wisconsin’s working poor and unemployed.
