Join WCCF for this interactive, advocacy training that will include state legislative session update with question and answer time. You’ll connect with peers from around the state, have lots of time for networking, learn valuable skills, and leave with tips and connections to enhance your advocacy efforts. PLUS you will be able to put your skills right to work with a visit to YOUR state senator and
representative!
WHAT IS ADVOCATE & LOBBY FOR KIDS DAY?
The training covers the following:
- Update on current legislative issues affecting kids and families
- How to plan & implement a successful advocacy campaign on your issue(s)
- Kids Count Data briefing
- Voter ID law briefing
- New legislative redistricting maps session
- A visit to the State Capitol to meet with state senators, representatives or staff
WHO SHOULD ATTEND ADVOCATE & LOBBY FOR KIDS DAY?
Anyone who wants to learn how to effectively raise their voice for children and families! Experienced advocates as well as beginners are welcome. Individuals from all racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, professional and political backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
Past participants include: parents, foster parents, teachers, child care providers, non-profit directors, outreach coordinators, social workers, nurses, therapists, college students, victim advocates, parent educators, chaplains and many others...
GENERAL INFORMATION
Location.
Advocate and Lobby for Kids Day will be held at First United Methodist Church in
Madison, close to the Capitol. First United Methodist Church is located at 203 Wisconsin Avenue.
