Join WCCF for this interactive, hands-on, no-one hiding-in-the-corner advocacy training that will include numerous simulations, role-plays, small group work and presentations by guest experts. You’ll connect with peers from around the state, have lots of time for networking, learn valuable skills, have extensive time for questions and discussion and leave with new confidence, tips and connections to enhance your advocacy efforts. PLUS you will be able to put your skills right to work with a visit to YOUR state senator and representative!

WHAT IS ADVOCACY CAMP?
The two-day training covers the following:

- an overview of the Wisconsin legislative and budget processes;
- how to plan & implement a successful advocacy campaign on your issue(s);
- tips for building & sustaining strong grassroots coalitions;
- how to effectively communicate with and educate local and state policymakers on critical issues impacting kids & families like childcare, health care, housing, jobs, education & training and more;

- a visit to the State Capitol to meet with state senators, representatives or staff.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND ADVOCACY CAMP?
Anyone who wants to learn how to effectively raise their voice for children and families! Experienced advocates as well as beginners are welcome. Individuals from all racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, professional and political backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

Past participants include: parents, foster parents, teachers, child care providers, non-profit directors, outreach coordinators, social workers, nurses, therapists, college students, victim advocates, parent educators, chaplains and many others...

GENERAL INFORMATION

Location.
Advocacy Camp will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in the heart of Madison, close to the Capitol and many downtown hotels.  Bethel Lutheran Church is located at 312 Wisconsin Avenue.

Schedule.
Wednesday, April 14
Thursday, April 15

8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Cost and Registration.
Regular: $90 (registration and payment must be received by Friday, Noon, April 9)

Registration fees include all training materials, light breakfast, lunch and snacks for each camp day.  Participants are responsible for any additional costs including dinner and lodging.
